Scholarship Information
Scholarships will be available for selected recipients to attend the 2010 International Microbicides Conference (M2010). Awards will be offered to a limited number of researchers, health care practitioners, and community representatives from both emerging/developing economies, as well as advanced economies.
The following expenses will be fully covered for selected scholarship recipients. (Partial scholarship awards will not be made.)
- Round-trip economy-class airfare between the city of the recipient's home or office and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
- Visa expenses (if applicable).
- Lodging room and tax expenses for dates in direct correlation to the conference, not to exceed 5 nights. Please note that the hotel selection will be at the discretion of the M2010 conference organizers.
- Reasonable ground transportation expenses for travel between the recipient's home or office and the airport, and between the hotel and airport in Pittsburgh.
- A reasonable daily allowance for meals not provided in conjunction with the conference and incidental expenses, such as telephone calls. Please note that expenses will be covered for the authorized dates of travel only.
- The M2010 conference registration fee.
Conference registration entitles you to the following:
- Access to all conference plenary and symposia sessions, the opening and closing ceremonies, poster reviews and poster sessions;
- A "keepsake" conference bag;
- One copy of conference materials, including the conference program book and any handouts or giveaways;
- A morning tea break, buffet lunch, and afternoon tea break (May 23, 24, and 25); and
- Access to the opening reception.

Scholarship Award Selection Criteria
Scholarship selections will be made based upon the following criteria, which are listed in priority order:
- Individuals who are actively involved in HIV prevention research, including scientists, clinicians, community educators, advocates care providers.
- Individuals from emerging / developing economies.
- Individuals with backgrounds in HIV/AIDS research, prevention, care and / or treatment.
- Individuals likely to effectively communicate knowledge gained at the conference to their scientific colleagues and their respective communities.
- Individuals representing diverse professional disciplines and / or geographic areas most affected by the HIV/AIDS pandemic.
Deadline for Submission of Scholarship Applications
Scholarship applications must be submitted online no later than 6:00 p.m. (eastern time) on January 22, 2010.
Notification and Correspondence
Upon submission of your scholarship application via the online form, you will receive an acknowledgement within approximately 2 hours at the e-mail address you provide. Please retain this information for your records as verification of receipt. If you do not receive an e-mail acknowledgement within approximately 2 hours after submission of your scholarship application, please contact us. Scholarship awards will be announced via e-mail on or about February 12, 2010. In addition, correspondence with scholarship awardees will primarily be conducted via e-mail.
